Finding Information

Britannica 2003 Ultimate Reference Edition lets you look up information quickly and easily. Explore the Britannica Libraries by using the Control Panel in the left portion of your Britannica 2003 window.

Choose a Library

Before searching or browsing, choose a Library at the very top of the Control Panel. All search results and browse options come from the Library you select. When you choose a different Library, the search results and browse options change. The Libraries are:
 

Search for information

When you have a topic in mind and need to learn more, type a keyword or phrase in the Search entry box at the top of the Control Panel. Click Go to get results from the selected Library.

Use buttons in the search results area to view different types of search results:
 

Browse for information

If you haven't settled on a topic, or if your topic is very general, try the Browse options. Click the arrow next to Browse to see the options available for the Library you've selected. Each Browse option offers a different approach to finding information:
 

Type a query only once

The Control Panel provides the convenience of typing once to look for information in several places.

If you type Winston Churchill in the Search box, then click KnowledgeNavigator, the KnowledgeNavigator searches for Winston Churchill.  

If you type Winston Churchill in the Search box and switch to the Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia Library, the search automatically starts. You don't have to retype.
